Ancient Technology

History books are wonderful windows into the human past but beware, they can also be misleading. On the whole, historians do a remarkable job of piecing together what happened long ago but they too make mistakes and quite often these mistakes are deliberate. Here are ten popular examples of direct and indirect ancient technology that have upset the official story.

ANTIKYTHERA MECHANISM

The Antikythera Mechanism is currently on display in the Hellenic Museum in Athens, Greece.

This curious mechanical device is often described as the World’s first analogue computer was retrieved by sponge divers off the coast of Antikythera in or around 1900AD. Scientists all agree that it is real and that it dates from some time during the 2nd century BC making it well over 2,000 years old. It comprises of a complex system of dials, gears and cogs of extraordinary precision. Experts agree that it represents a standard of production that would not be seen again until the rise of complex clocks and clockwork in the 18th century. The Rest Of The Story…

Milan Creates the World’s First Vertical Forest

http://themindunleashed.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/milann.png

In an age where harmonious innovation is becoming more celebrated, sustainable designs to preserve the Earth and contribute to wellbeing are being implemented at a rapid rate. One such innovation to recently be accepted for development is a vertical forest designed by Stefan Boeri Architects. The first ever vertical forest will soon be the greenest building in Milan. Because the average household in a city produces approximately 25-30 tons of CO2 per year, implementing greener architecture in highly populated areas cannot come soon enough.

This stunning development is part of a vision presented by BioMilano which promises to incorporate 60 abandoned farms into a greenbelt surrounding the city. Part of the mission is to create a vertical forest building which boasts a stunning green façade planted with dense forest systems to provide microclimate and to filter out polluting dust particles. According to Inhabit, there are two buildings currently under construction.

The greener architecture will help absorb CO2, oxygenate the air, moderate extreme temperatures, and lower noise pollution. The bio-canopy is not only aesthetically pleasing to the eye, but it helps lower living costs. The Rest Of The Story…

Why The Media Blackout on the Condition of Our Environment?

http://themindunleashed.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/meaningful.jpg

For a normal human being who understands the value of having clean air and water to consume, clean soil to grow food in, and of living in a habitat that can support life, it is frustrating to watch one environmental calamity occur, after another without ever seeing a mainstream, non-politicized conversation about the condition of our natural world. It seems that merely expressing concern over the direction the environment is going is enough to solicit a number of stigmatized labels, such as hippie, liberal, terrorist, downer, debbie-downer, slacker, tree-hugger, climate changer, Al Gore, global warmer, Agenda 21′er, and so on. There is an extreme cultural bias against environmentalism, from many angles. Environmentalism is not a public priority.

What is at the root of this indifference toward the quality of our natural world? We certainly are a society that is highly preoccupied with security, but, for some reason, when it comes to securing a healthy environment, most of us look the other way, or put these concerns well below others. Drive Coast to Coast Free of Fuel Costs in the Tesla Model S

http://themindunleashed.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/imageee.jpg

Tesla Motors, an alternative-energy automotive innovator, has become the first electric car company to connect a route of Supercharger charging stations making it possible to travel all the way from the east to the west coast of the United States entirely depending on free charging stations designed for Tesla Model S, a completely electric sedan.  The announcement was discretely made by Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Motors via Twitter on January 26th.

“According to Musk, some 80% of Americans are “covered” by the Supercharger network, and with the completion of the interior corridor, Model S drivers can now drive from one coast to the other and back, for free, using the fast-charging system. Of course the Tesla Supercharger network doesn’t stop there, as there are plans to install many dozens more free filling stations, until the entire country is covered.” Reports Christopher Demorro on gas.org.

Discover the hidden secrets of a timeless mystery in this award winning film about the greatest Crop Circle formations ever created. The creators of these paranormal formations still remain a mystery. After years of painstaking research, scientific evidence still points to alien influences that are responsible for this phenomena. One thing is certain, what you are about to see in this amazing film can only be described as miraculous evidence of a secret art form that continues to defy explanation

Every Time I Think Nature Can’t Shock Me Any More, I Discover Something Like This. Wow.

After being on this earth for so many years, you’ll at least learn this one thing: Mother Nature will never stop surprising you. Take these pictures of a river, for example. Seems normal enough, right? Wait until you look close, though. You’ll realize that this river is underwater (and your mind will be blown).

This little stream defies all logic and exists on the bottom of the ocean floor. Don’t believe it? If you visit the Cenote Angelita in Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula, you’ll see this (seemingly) impossible river for yourself.

A Man Takes A Single Rake to The Beach. And When You Zoom Out And See It… Mind BLOWN.

If you live in San Francisco, California, then you may be lucky enough to come across the art of Andres Amador. He doesn’t paint or sculpt. He prefers a medium that is temporary but absolutely beautiful: a sandy beach at low tide. He uses a rake to create works of art that can be bigger than 100,000 sq. ft.

He spends hours creating these intricate masterpieces, knowing that the tide will soon come in and wash away his work forever.

Scientists in California say new technology will soon allow massive 3D printers to build entire multi-level houses in under a day.

University of Southern California Professor Behrokh Khoshnevis has for years been working on a building printing technology called “contour crafting,” and has earned accolades from the likes of the National Inventors Hall of Fame and even NASA for his efforts. Soon, he says, he’ll be able to use that system to create entire structures out of concrete using what is essentially a gigantic 3D printer. The Rest Of The Story…
